Alternative Dispute Resolution
ADR is an attractive, pragmatic alternative to litigation. It offers adversaries the opportunity to expedite resolution of disputes at a fraction of the cost of litigation. ADR may be employed before, during, or even after litigation, while appeals or post-trial motions are pending.
Our Alternative Dispute Resolution practice group ("ADR") is co-chaired by C. Judson Hamlin, who joined the Purcell firm in 1998, after a distinguished 20 year judicial career. Judd Hamlin is recognized as one of the leading mediators in New Jersey, having successfully resolved hundreds of complex litigation disputes through mediation, binding and non-binding arbitration.
Graham T. Ross ("Tom Ross") is co-chair of this department. Tom is one of the pioneers of mediation as an alternate to costly and protected matrimonial litigation. During his tenure as Chair of the Conference of Family Division Presiding Judges, Tom played an integral role in developing the pilot for the mandatory program for mediation of matrimonial matters. In addition to ADR matrimonial and family matters, Tom employs his many years of judicial experience to the mediation of all types of complex civil disputes.
Our ADR Department stands ready to assist litigants in the following areas:
- binding and non-binding arbitration
- mediation
- reconciliation
- case management of complex matters
